Giving back to the community – Blue September

Every year the Prostate Cancer Foundation promotes Blue September to raise funds and awareness for Kiwi’s diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. Every job that was booked and completed by us in September would contribute $20 to our donation at the end of the month.

Did you know, one in eight kiwi blokes will get Prostate cancer in their lifetime? This is a staggeringly high statistic and sadly it often goes unnoticed until it’s too late. The Prostate Cancer Foundation plays a huge role in raising awareness and advocating for men’s cancer in Aotearoa.

Each year the foundation hosts Blue September, getting Kiwis together to raise funds and awareness of Prostate cancer. Campbell Plumbing and Gasfitting pledged to donate $20 from every job booked and completed in September towards Blue September in support of men’s health.

Thanks to our customers booking in their Blue September jobs we have managed to raise $1,780! These funds are going directly towards helping to improve the health outcomes for kiwi men through raising awareness, supporting men and their whānau, advocating for their health, and conducting vital research. The Prostate Cancer Foundation educates males on the early signs of potential disease and what to do when they suspect something is up, which is vital in producing better outcomes for Kiwi men. Blue September efforts also help ensure blokes and their families living with prostate cancer receive the support they need, such as funding, counselling, and resources.

Our funds will support research projects, furthering the knowledge of prostate cancer and different approaches to treatment. This research will make a huge difference to the way men are diagnosed, treated and supported through their experience. We are so proud to be supporting New Zealanders affected by prostate cancer, and hopefully make a difference for future generations of Kiwi men.
